PlayStation Portable: 8 Favorite Titles

Despite it's days no longer shine and almost no more international title release anymore, PSP was used to be one of my favorite console of all time due to it's carriable size. I got alot to list on my favorite, but here are my fave international titles so far (with fighting games beside dissidia outcluded):

#1 Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Developer: Square Enix
Genre: Action RPG
Summary: Play as Zack Fair, a young member of the paramilitary organization SOLDIER, who is assigned to look for the missing SOLDIER Genesis Rhapsodos. As he searches for Genesis, Zack discovers Genesis' origin, Project G, and how it is related to two other high ranking SOLDIERs: Sephiroth and Angeal Hewley.

Actually the first title that I played on PSP console, as well as the reason I bought PSP long ago. Prequel from famous title Final Fantasy VII, the game featured with awesome visual experience and storyline focusing on event 7 years before the original FF VII storyline - where you can see Cloud when he's still a noob and the badass Sephiroth when he's still act like a normal human. Probaby my most favorited hack and slash, action RPG of all time on PSP console and for me, Crisis Core has the most touching ending compared to other Final Fantasy series so far. I always love 3d hack and slash, kind of RPG. That's probably the reason why I enjoy made conversion projects based off from various title and turned them into an RPG in wc3.

#2 Persona 3 Portable
Developer: Atlus
Genre: RPG
Summary: Takes the role of a high-school student who joins the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES), a group of students investigating the Dark Hour - a time period between one day and the next that few people are aware of. During the Dark Hour, the player enters Tartarus, a large tower containing Shadows, creatures that feed on the minds of humans. To fight the Shadows, each member of SEES is able to summon a Persona, a manifestation of a person's inner self.

Unlike the original one that released on PS 2 years back, this portable version turned into more likely a visual novel. Nonetheless, the game still offers great storyline, great musics, interesting social links (esp on female MC route), as well as hundreds personas to unlock and more importantly - a way more better improved mechanics on the game. I could say that I totally fall in love with this game and has completed both male and female main characters storyline several times! (Which I usually doesn't bother play New Game+, but I guess this title is an exception)

#3 Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Tag Force 5
Developer: Konami
Genre: Card Battle
Summary: Based off from the 3rd generation of Yu-Gi-Oh, the game involving free-roaming open worlds based on the New Domino City with duels that can be played in tag-team or single mode. Player can as well unlock main characters storyline by boosting their heart points.

I love Yu-Gi-Oh ever since mid school era around 2003s, and I did collected many of it's cards to play with friends back in the day - where the rules still classic and without stuff like syncro summon or whatever it's called (not even using any of it on my deck even on this game). This fifth installment of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force series featured with more than 4 thousands available cards to build up your own personal decks and brings the nostalgia!

#4 Ys Seven
Developer: Nihon Falcom Corporation
Genre: Action RPG
Summary: Adol and Dogi reach the Capital of Altago in an attempt to find more adventure. While exploring the town, they get into trouble trying to save two sisters who were being harassed by the local Dragon Knights, which is the army force of Altago. They are thrown into the cells but thanks to their reputation as adventurers, they get a request from the king to help him investigate some strange earthquakes going on lately, as his men have not been able to find anything. On their way, they find out the Five Dragons are awakening once again to prevent a great evil, lending their power to Adol to help stop it.

My second favorite 3d, action hack and slash RPG on PSP platform. Play as Adol(f Hitler), the red haired adventurer with his friend, and some other friends that will join you as the story goes on to embark a journey finding five dragon blessings to save the local island from getting doomed! I'm not actually a fan of Ys series nor I have played Ys previous games, but I have to say that love this one alot, probably because this is the first Ys game that created into 3d which I'm into these days rather than sprites. The game featured with interesting battle mechanics along with well-developed boss battle part, good storyline, as well as unexpected character to be the semi-final boss!

#5 Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
Developer: Square Enix
Genre: Action RPG
Summary: Prequel to the original Kingdom Hearts which taking place ten years before the original storyline. The game centers on the journeys of past keyblade users in their quest to locate the missing Master Xehanort and protect the worlds from creatures known as the Unversed.

Beside it's fancy cinematics, the game featured with fun and exciting action RPG experience, with various iconic characters including from Final Fantasy series and Disney as you meet them through on your journey. The game provide three different storyline from 3 new protagonists: Terra, Aqua and Ventus. Completing all three scenarios will unlock the story's final chapter. I just love Kingdom Hearts series that I ever wanted to create my own storyline of it with the title Kingdom Hearts: Destiny Line back on 2011, which uh-- ended up cancelled.

#6 Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy
Developer: Square Enix
Genre: RPG, Fighting
Summary: Centered around the new characters and their journey to end the conflict. The game begins with the six new characters traveling to Sanctuary to meet up with Cosmos and the other warriors. Cosmos gathers her warriors together and imbues them with her own power, which will eventually coalesce into a crystal which in turn will help her warriors stop Chaos and bring an end to the conflict.

When I played the original Dissidia back then, I wished for the game to had adventurous RPG felt - and just like a dream come true, Square Enix developed Dissidia 012, with additional World Map to explore as well as other RPG-like features, improved battle mechanics, and more importantly - more playable characters including the corrupted version of God of Discord itself, Feral Chaos. Featured with exciting battle-style as well as many characters from Final Fantasy series up to XIII, definitely a recommended title for Final Fantasy fans!

#7 The 3rd Birthday
Developer: Square Enix, HexaDrive
Genre: RPG, Third Person Shooter
Summary: The game takes place in 2013, a year after creatures known as the Twisted have appeared from beneath Manhattan and decimated the city. To fight back against the Twisted, an investigatory team called the Counter Twisted Investigation (CTI) is formed. Among their number is series protagonist Aya Brea, who was found unconscious and suffering amnesia two years before the game's events. Using her Overdive ability, Aya travels into the past to alter the outcome of battles against the Twisted. At the same time, Aya attempts to find out the origin of the Twisted and regain her memories.

A third person shooter RPG featured with epic and chaotic environment. I love Parasite Eve back on PS One era especially because of it's independent characteristic of the protagonist, some horror vibe, as well as some interesting puzzles to solve. Although I'm not fond with Aya Brea character on this non-related version of Parasite Eve storyline, I still enjoy playing it due to it's gameplay and exciting visual - probably because I'm a visual person myself. Haha! The reaper is probably my most favorite boss battle on this game.

#8 Naruto Ultimate Ninja Impact
Developer: Namco Bandai, CyberConnect2
Genre: Action RPG
Summary: Sixth Naruto title for the PlayStation Portable. The game's storyline covers the Kazekage Rescue arc up to the Five Kage Summit Arc. The game features boss battles, an all new rush battle system, 1 vs 100 action, ad hoc multiplayer missions, and also features over 50 characters, 26 of which are playable.

Another fun action RPG Naruto franchise with Dynasty Warriors gameplay, where you can pwn useless hundreds of enemies who just stand there doing nothing. The game storyline starts from the original 1st episode of Shippuden up to the final scene where both of the main guy clash for the second time on Valley of the End. Despite useless common enemies, the game provide some awesome boss battle, Kakuzu boss battle is my favorite!
